Rachel Lock
Born and raised in Calgary, Rachel has been an active musician since a young age. She took
piano lessons as a young child and growing up in the church meant plenty of singing. In junior
high she began playing French horn and played in school bands as well as sang in concert
choir and jazz choir in high school. Currently she is in her fourth year of her Bachelor of Music
Education degree and studying horn at the University of Calgary, but her love for piano has
never diminished! Even while partaking in vocal and instrumental music, she still understands
music through a pianists perspective. While working towards finishing her degree, Rachel
wants to share music with students, believing that music appreciation and understanding can
help us connect with the world in a broader way. Aside from teaching and learning music,
Rachel enjoys crocheting, fish keeping and gardening, delighting in the creativity and life each
hobby brings!
